Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida has an opening for a qualified Science (Chemistry and Biology) Teacher for the upcoming 2026-27 school year. This teacher will be expected to plan, organize, and implement an appropriate instructional program for high school Chemistry and Biology. The candidate performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami. Salary will vary based on certification and years of experience.
Responsibilities include:
- Demonstrate knowledge of scientific field and apply strategies for engagement, instruction and assessment.
- Create hands-on, inquiry-based, project-based lessons that build excitement for science.
- Apply scientific concepts using models, technology, and other standards or teacher-prepared instructional aids.
- Compile, administer, and grade examinations, lab experiments, and assignments in a timely manner.
- Develop and implement a curriculum and lessons that will foster knowledge and skills essential to effectively teach students in the grades assigned.
- Demonstrate knowledge and training in lab work with students.
- Promote high standards and expectations for student learning.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree in science, education, or related field.
- Master or doctorate degree in Science, Education, or related field is encouraged.
- Florida Department of Education Teaching Certification in Science, Education, and related field.
- Excellent classroom management skills and have demonstrated ability to engage students.
- Software skills in Google Suite, Notability, and iPad.
- Knowledge and skill in use of instructional technology, including iPads, in the classroom.
- Strong presentation skills with skill in use of instructional technologies.
- Communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
- Excellent oral and written English -language communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
- Must be supportive and respectful of the mission and tenets of the Roman Catholic Church; experience in the Roman Catholic environment preferred.
- Exemplify professionalism in behavior and performance.
