STREAM is the acronym for science, technology, religion, engineering, art and math, and lessons that combine all those subject areas. Every grade in the school participated in the event, which was planned by sixth-grade teacher Annette Garcia.

These were the challenges:

  • “Bone Bridge Challenge” – Students had to design and build a bone bridge using certain criteria and constraints.
  • “Wings Wanted Challenge” – Students had to design a new set of wings for a bat using certain criteria and constraints.
  • “Spider Web Challenge” – Students used a paper plate, glue, and wax paper to create a spider web.
  • “Candy Corn Challenge” – Students used candy corn and toothpicks to create structures.

"The kids had a blast!" said Nicole Correa, a fellow middle-school teacher.

The proof is in the photo album above.
