MIAMI | Catholic Relief Services has recognized a Miami priest, Father Rafael Capó, with its Hispanic Heritage Partner Award for 2019. Father Capó is director of the U.S. bishops Southeast Regional Office for Hispanic Ministry and its Southeast Pastoral Institute (SEPI).

The award recognizes “his countless efforts to engage and minister with Hispanics in the Archdiocese of Miami and throughout the Southeast Region of the United States,” according to Roberto Navarro, senior director of U.S. Church Engagement for CRS.

Catholic Relief Services is the international humanitarian agency of the Catholic community in the United States.

In a letter to Archbishop Thomas Wenski announcing the award, Navarro praised Father Capó for promoting the resources, programs and mission of CRS. “His missionary actions and leadership ... have inspired and accompanied many Hispanics in your diocese and region to live out their faith in solidarity with those in need, both locally and around the world.”
