Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry

The Archdiocese of Miami is conducting a search for a highly qualified individual to serve as Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry. Working under the Secretariat for Parish Life, the Director will continue the good work begun following the Second General Synod’s pastoral plan in building a solid Youth & Young Adult Ministry Office to provide direction and serve as a resource to the parishes and schools of the archdiocese in the formation of our youth and young adults in their Catholic faith. This includes the design, development, and implementation of training and certifying leaders in the foundations of effective youth ministry, as well as providing leadership to assist the pastors in the training of large groups of young adults to serve as missionaries in their parishes. This position will supervise a Coordinator and a part-time administrative assistant. The best candidate is a strong Catholic who is passionate about bringing young people to Jesus Christ and forming them as disciples, with the ability to establish a structure to support the strategic plan and build the relationships to maintain it.
The Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry performs all duties and responsibilities in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of the Catholic Archdiocese of Miami.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, Pastoral Ministry, or related professional field is required.
- Knowledge of, and the ability to convey effectively, the official teaching of the Church in the areas of Scripture, doctrine, morality, and spirituality with a demonstrated fidelity to these teachings.
- Event planning experience, including booking of locations, scheduling of participants and menu planning.
- Must be able to travel to youth and young adult ministry events, including the National March for Life and World youth Day.
- Excellent customer service skills, including ability to maintain focus on and professionalism with people in challenging situations, both in person and by phone.
- Good time management, including ability to manage several projects at the same time.
- Knowledge of church documents relating to evangelization, youth and young adult ministry.
- Knowledge of current resources, processes and methodologies for evangelization, youth, and young adult ministry.
- Knowledge of technology for purposes of creating flyers, brochures, and other similar materials.
- Good oral and written English-language communication skills, including clear speaking voice.
- Proficiency in Spanish, written, read, and spoken, is required.
- Minimum four years’ experience in parish or diocesan youth or young adult ministry.
- Good computer literacy, including ability to navigate online applications and search engines effectively.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Constant Contact a plus.
- Must have a professional demeanor.
- Demonstrated comfort in multi-cultural settings required.
