St. Thomas U. hosts panel discussion on pope's Cuba visit

Panelists include Archbishop Thomas Wenski, Cuban intellectual Dagoberto Valdes

MIAMI | In the wake of Pope Francis’ recent visit to Cuba, the community is invited to join Archdiocese of Miami Archbishop Thomas Wenski, clergy, academics, and other invited guests in a conversation about the Holy Father’s visit.

"Pope Francis and His Visit to Cuba: A Conversation" will take place this Saturday, Oct. 3, beginning with breakfast at 9 a.m. The discussion will begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 1 p.m. in St. Thomas University's Goldbloom Convocation Hall, 16401 N.W. 37th Ave., Miami Gardens.

The program, coordinated by St. Thomas University’s School of Theology and Ministry, will provide a venue for theological and cultural reflections on the pope’s trip.

In addition to Archbishop Wenski, invited speakers include Cuban intellectual Dagoberto Valdes, St. Thomas University Associate Professor of Political Studies Giselle Jamison, and members of the clergy, including Cuban clergy. Individuals who recently participated in the pilgrimage to Cuba have also been invited to attend.
