MIAMI | Five students from Sts. Peter and Paul School in Miami, along with their Spanish teacher, Violeta Gil de Bazan, were among a number of Miami-Dade County public and private school students honored April 26 by the Instituto de Cultura Hispanica.
The students recognized with the Orden Academica Don Quijote de la Mancha were: Ashley Zelaya, Julio Soriano, Fernando Mendoza, Amber Carpintero and Alehandro Zayas Ramos. Their teacher received the Orden Academica Miguel de Cervantes.
"We are very proud of the recipients from an institution that has been recognizing academic excellence in the Spanish language for over 40 years," said Carlota Morales, the school's principal.
