MIAMI | On May 21, the baseball team from Christopher Columbus High School brought home the second state championship in school history, defeating Orange City University in the class 8A state championship game at JetBlue Park in Fort Meyers.

The Explorers won by a score of 10-1 and finished the season with a 27-5 record. They won their last championship in 2003, also under Coach Joe Weber, who is in his 20th year at the school.

"This hardworking and dedicated team will go down in school history as one of the best," said Cristina Cruz, the school's marketing director. "Congratulations to Coach Weber on his second state title and to all the players and coaches. You have made the Columbus family very proud."
