The mission of the schools of the Archdiocese of Miami is to "Energize the Faith through Education."
The Archdiocese of Miami is a vibrant school system of 36,745 children in 70 elementary and secondary schools in Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. The schools exist to teach the Good News about Jesus Christ while providing a quality education.
The elementary schools of the Archdiocese are accredited by the Florida Catholic Conference (FCC) while the secondary schools are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Each accrediting agency ensures that our schools offer their students the best academic education possible. It is the responsibility of the Archdiocesan Department of Schools to ensure that this is done in a Catholic/Christian environment.
An atmosphere of Catholic values and traditions permeates the schools. Classroom instruction in the Catholic faith, prayer experiences, liturgy, and retreat experiences offer students an opportunity to establish a personal relationship with God. Additionally, the Catholic tradition of good works is emphasized through required service hours and charitable projects.
The Department of Schools of the Archdiocese of Miami acts as a resource to its schools by providing in-service programs for administrators and teachers, revising curricula, and by reviewing and modifying policies to address the contemporary world in which we work. The Archdiocese of Miami believes that faith can be strengthened through education.
