MIAMI | Starting with an early morning Mass and concluding with a family picnic in the afternoon, Archbishop Coleman Carroll High School hosted its second annual Walk4Life Jan. 31.
The event drew more than 200 walkers to the campus of the archdiocesan high school. By walking the 3.3-mile route they raised funds for the South Dade Pregnancy Help Center, one of five such centers sponsored by the archdiocesan Respect Life Ministry.
The local "walks for life" are timed to coincide with the Jan. 22 March for Life in Washington, D.C., which marks the anniversary of the 1973 Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion in the U.S.
The walks benefit each of the five pregnancy help centers sponsored by the archdiocese. Walks this year also took place at St. Andrew Church in Coral Springs, Archbishop Edward McCarthy High School in Southwest Ranches, and St. John Vianney College Seminary in Miami.
