MIAMI | The grand celebration for the feast day of Our Lady of Charity, set for Friday, Sept. 8, has been postponed due to Hurricane Irma. In addition, the National Shrine of Our Lady of Charity, known as La Ermita, will close Thursday, Sept. 7, and remain closed until Hurricane Irma passes the area of South Florida.
As a result, the following events in honor of the feast of Our Lady of Charity have been postponed:
- Wednesday, Sept. 6, and Thursday, Sept. 7: Traditional novena at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Charity
- Thursday, Sept. 7: Cultural vigil ending with serenade at midnight for Our Lady of Charity
- Friday, Sept. 8: Mass for the sick that was scheduled to be celebrated at noon and the grand celebration for the feast day.
