Mary J. Frick elected vice president of Catholic Cemetery Conference

Hillside, ILLINOIS | The Catholic Cemetery Conference, an international Roman Catholic faith network of cemeterians and suppliers, has elected Mary Jo Frick as vice president. Frick is executive director of Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Miami, where she has been directly and indirectly involved in the operation of two archdiocesan cemeteries for over 30 years. 

The election was held during the 71st annual CCC Convention and Exposition in Doral. Her term began Sept. 23, 2021.

Frick received the Certified Catholic Cemetery Executive designation in 2015 and formerly served as a CCC Director at-Large for the Eastern United States and Eastern Canada and as treasurer of the Conference. She also serves chairs the CCC Education Committee and is a past member of the Liturgy Committee and the Committee on the Future. 

Frick has worked in the Archdiocese of Miami for more than 38 years. She has held several positions within the archdiocese’s Catholic Health Services, including vice president of Finance, director of Accounting Services and director of Finance. In these positions, she oversaw the financial operations of CHS entities, which include hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, housing for the elderly, specialty education schools and cemeteries.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and has attended continuing education programs at Harvard University School of Public Health, the University of Florida Leadership Development Institute, and cemetery-specific courses in the International Cemetery and Funeral Association program at the University of Memphis, and the CCC School of Leadership at John Carroll University and the University of Notre Dame.

Frick’s experience includes audit and finance, bond finance, construction and renovation of health care facilities, cemetery land development, and the construction of garden and chapel mausoleums, lawn crypts and ground burial sections for the cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Miami. She has served as a cemetery development advisor to the Archdiocese of Nassau, Bahamas, and other Florida dioceses.

Frick is a member and Diocesan Delegate of the CCC and a member of the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association and the Florida Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association. She is a past member of the Audit and Compliance Committee of Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, past secretary/treasurer of Catholic Hospice in Miami and past chair and current member of the Finance Committee of her local parish.
