Knights install new state officers

New State Deputy is Knight of Columbus from St. Bonaventure Council in Davie

DELRAY BEACH | Scott A. O’Connor of Pembroke Pines was among the new state officers installed by the Florida State Council of the Knights of Columbus after a Mass July 6 at St. Vincent Ferrer Church in Delray Beach.

O’Connor, a member of St. Bonaventure Council 12240 in Davie, will serve as State Deputy for the next two years. He previously served as State Secretary.

The installation ceremony was preceded by a Mass celebrated by Bishop Gerald M. Barbarito of Palm Beach.

The new Florida State Council chaplain is Msgr. Thomas Skindeleski, pastor of St. Vincent Ferrer Church.

Other officers installed include:

  • State Secretary: Robert S. Urrutia of Davenport, Resurrection Council 11189 in Winter Garden.
  • State Treasurer: Richard P. Hughes of Valrico, St. Stephen Council 14084, Riverview.
  • State Advocate: Robert W. Rasch, Bishop Thomas J. Grady Council 5618, Altamonte Springs.
  • State Warden: Michael P. Gizewski of Lake Worth, Palm Beach Council 2075.

Serving as the Immediate Past State Deputy is Donald T. Kahrer of Ocoee, Holy Family Council 11488.

The Florida State Council is one of the largest state jurisdictions of the Knights of Columbus with more than 56,000 members in over 400 councils throughout the state, including the Bahamas and St. Lucia.
