Archdiocese of Miami Welcomes Students Back for the 2025–2026 School Year

Miami, FL (August 08, 2025) – On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, the Archdiocese of Miami will officially welcome back approximately 37,000 students for the start of the 2025–2026 school year, across its network of 65 Catholic schools within the tri-county area.

“We are excited to begin another school year with renewed enthusiasm and a deep sense of commitment to those we serve,” said Dr. Jim Rigg, Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of Miami. “Our schools remain steadfast in their mission to form students in faith, values, and academic excellence. And this year, we are blessed to see that mission continue to grow in transformational ways.”

As students return to classrooms across South Florida, this year brings continued growth and expansion within the Archdiocese's Catholic school system, a sign of strong demand and trust from families across South Florida.

Highlights for the 2025–2026 School Year:

  • Projected enrollment is up by approximately 800 students, potentially marking the fifth consecutive year of rising enrollment. Over half of the Archdiocese’s schools are currently full and operating with waiting lists — a testament to the vibrancy and appeal of Catholic education in the region.
  • Holy Rosary–St. Richard School in Cutler Bay is expanding with the opening of a second campus on the property of St. Richard Church in Palmetto Bay. This new early childhood campus will serve infants through Pre-K4, meeting the growing demand for high-quality Catholic early childhood education in the area.
  • In Key West, The Basilica School will celebrate a major milestone as it welcomes its first graduating senior class since reopening its high school division. The new high school building opened last school year and has quickly become a cornerstone of Catholic secondary education in the Florida Keys.
  • The Little School, a growing ministry of the Archdiocese, has officially reached full capacity with 27 students at the La Salle Education Center in Homestead. This milestone represents the first phase of a larger vision. Backed by the Brothers of the Christian Schools, the school is laying the foundation for a future middle and high school on a 10-acre property in Naranja. This ambitious project will require significant philanthropic support and promises to expand Catholic education opportunities in South Dade.

Schools within the Archdiocese continue to serve as pillars of their communities educating the whole child — mind, body, and spirit — while fostering leadership, service, and a deep commitment to faith.
