Miami, FL (September 5, 2025) – The Archdiocese of Miami invites the faithful to join in the annual celebration of the feast day of Cuba’s patroness, Our Lady of Charity, on Monday, September 8, 2025, marking the 25th anniversary of La Ermita’s designation as a National Shrine by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops in 2000.

This year’s celebration will take place at the National Shrine of Our Lady of Charity in Coconut Grove, beginning with a rosary at 6 p.m., followed by a procession of the image of Our Lady of Charity at 7p.m., leading up to the Solemn Mass celebrated by Archbishop Thomas Wenski at 8 p.m.

The 2025 theme, “María, Faro de la Libertad / Mary, Beacon of Freedom,” highlights the enduring role of Our Lady of Charity as a guiding light for the Cuban people and all who turn to her in faith. For decades, La Ermita de la Caridad has served as a spiritual home for Cuban exiles and the wider Catholic community, standing as a beacon of faith, hope, and cultural identity.

In addition, the National Shrine of Our Lady of Charity is hosting a series of events leading up to the feast day. A full list of those events and details can be found on the Shrine’s website.
