St. Theresa students observe Read Across America with Dr. Seuss celebration

CORAL GABLES | Seuss-style whimsy filled St. Theresa Catholic School as pre-K and first-grade students celebrated Read Across America Day with books and costumes.

Marking the birthday of children’s author Dr. Seuss, students sported their silliest suits, created their own wacky animals and even served up some green eggs and ham.

Costumed characters seen during the March 2, 2021 event included Zachary at the Zoo, Junie B. Jones, the Cat in the Hat's friends, Thing 1 and Thing 2, as well as Sam I Am serving up Green Eggs and Ham. Students also wore crazy hats and mismatched socks during the week.

"Our goal is to share a love of reading with our students," first-grade teacher Lisette Martinez said. "The more they love reading at an early age, the more we hope they will continue that love of reading and learning for life."

As Dr. Seuss said, "You can find magic wherever you look. Sit back and relax, all you need is a book."
