St. Bonaventure, St. Thomas the Apostle recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools

MIAMI (Sept. 24, 2020) | Two of the 49 Catholic elementary schools of the Archdiocese of Miami, St. Bonaventure in Davie and St. Thomas the Apostle in South Miami, have been recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2020 by U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos.

The coveted National Blue Ribbon Schools award acknowledges the hard work of educators, families and communities in creating safe and welcoming schools where students master challenging and engaging content. Schools are recognized in one of two performance categories based on all student scores, student subgroup scores and graduation rates.

Both St. Bonaventure and St. Thomas the Apostle were rated exemplary high performing schools. According to the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program, schools in this category are among their state’s highest performing schools as measured by state assessments or nationally normed tests.

A virtual recognition ceremony will be held November 12 and 13.
