Miami...(September 20, 2012) A school in the Archdiocese of Miami has been recognized by the Cardinal Newman Society as being among the finest Catholic High Schools in the nation. Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School was recently recognized as a 2012-13 Catholic High School Honor Roll school, while another Archdiocesan high school, Cardinal Gibbons High School, was also recognized in the category of Civics Education.

The National Catholic High School Honor Roll has recognized Americas top 50 Catholic High Schools since 2004, and its purpose is to encourage excellence in Catholic Education, while serving as an incentive to improve.

To be considered for the Honor Roll, Catholic schools were encouraged to submit three surveys to gauge Catholic identity, academics, and civic education. Honor Roll staff then compiled the data and used a complex scoring algorithm to determine excellence in all three areas.

On September 20, 2012 The Honor Roll schools will be publicly announced, also a biennial list is publicized nationally.
