Ascending Life is a Christian movement of seniors active in today's society. It is a world-wide movement that started in Paris after World War II. The first international Conference was held in 1985 in Rome - receiving the special blessing of Pope John Paul II. Ascending Life International was officially recognized and approved by the Pontifical Council for the Laity in 1996 at the Holy See.
In the year 2000 Ascending Life became formally affiliated with the Archdiocese of Miami and has an office at the diocesan Pastoral Center. Our former beloved Archbishop Edward McCarthy encouraged the movement and served as the spiritual advisor until his illness and recent death. Our present Archbishop, John Clement Favalora, has given us his blessing and financial support. He would like to see this program for seniors established
in every
parish of the Archdiocese.
The three essential elements of the Ascending Life program are:
- Spirituality,
- Friendship/fellowship (social life), and
- Service
