Has been working in the field of blindness and visual impairments since 1981

Earned a master's degree in visual disabilities from Florida State University in 1980 and a master's degree in pastoral ministries from St. Thomas University in 2009

Currently on the Advisory Group for Xavier Society for the Blind, an organization that helps blind and visually impaired people learn about, develop and practice their Catholic faith by providing religious and spiritual reading materials in Braille, large print and audio

Has worked with local Catholic churches and religious educators to make parishes more aware of the needs of the visually impaired, and to help the visually impaired "see" their churches by taking tactile tours of their sanctuaries

Continues to minister to people living with blindness and visual impairments in Broward County through her telephone ministry; lending an ear when someone needs emotional or spiritual uplifting or advice

Attends St. Pius X Church in Fort Lauderdale
