Born in Havana, Maria Vadia was 10 years old when she and her family fled to Miami to escape the Communist regime in her native country. She attended Catholic schools and was a Sunday Catholic with no personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Later married to a wealthy man, she was gripped with materialism; yet in the midst of everything that the world had to offer, she knew that something was missing.

Maria was baptized in the Holy Spirit in 1987 and consecrated her life to the Lord Jesus Christ and to the preaching of the Gospel. Active in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, Maria has spoken at many conferences and has traveled extensively around the world including the Caribbean, Malta, Ghana, Uganda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Indonesia, New Zealand, Canada, India, Poland and Italy, bringing a message of faith, salvation and healing.

She is the founder of the Magnificat Chapter in Miami, and is connected with Glory House of Miami, a safe haven for human traffic victims. Led by the Holy Spirit, Maria’s foundation is helping the Pygmies with new houses in Kabale, Uganda.

She is mother to four grown children and nine grandchildren.

St. John Bosco Clinic is sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of St. Augustine, Florida. Established in 1992, we aim to be an enduring presence providing care as long as there are underserved children and adults without access to healthcare.

The strength of a free clinic lies in its volunteer support. Volunteers help strengthen the safety-net that cares for our community. Those served at St. John Bosco Clinic have different life stories, faces and nationalities. They are the young, old, working poor and the unemployed, but they share one very similar need: the need for healthcare and difficulty meeting that need for themselves and their families. The St. John Bosco Clinic is a safety-net for these families.
