Obtain a Master of Science in Bioethics

Sunday, Dec 17, 2017various times - English

St. Thomas University now offers a Master of Science degree in Bioethics. It is comprehensive, and covers both the human life issues and the environmental issues. It is designed for working people, so that classes don’t interfere with a weekly working schedule.

The program takes place over four contiguous terms: fall, spring, summer and fall again. So, for example, those who start this fall would be graduating in early December of 2018. It consists of two courses per semester, to a total of 30 graduate credits – no thesis involved. Classes are taught on Saturdays, and there are three ways of participating:

• Live to students who show up, using audio-visuals in the classroom.

• Remotely, through a professional online service that allows students to connect to the computer in the classroom – audio and visual – so that those who can’t travel to STU may still participate fully in the lecture.

• Each lecture is also recorded and stored online, so that those unable to participate live that day can always see and listen to the lecture sometime during the week, at their convenience.

The classes are taught by Father Alfred Cioffi, an archdiocesan priest for over 30 years, who has a doctorate degree in moral theology from the Gregorian University in Rome, and a doctorate degree in genetics from Purdue University in Indiana.

St. John Bosco Clinic is sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph of St. Augustine, Florida. Established in 1992, we aim to be an enduring presence providing care as long as there are underserved children and adults without access to healthcare.

The strength of a free clinic lies in its volunteer support. Volunteers help strengthen the safety-net that cares for our community. Those served at St. John Bosco Clinic have different life stories, faces and nationalities. They are the young, old, working poor and the unemployed, but they share one very similar need: the need for healthcare and difficulty meeting that need for themselves and their families. The St. John Bosco Clinic is a safety-net for these families.
