St. Kevin School eighth-graders Alexa Garcia and Andre Gonzalez crown an image of the Virgin Mary at the conclusion of a Mass in honor of the month of Mary.
MIAMI | St. Kevin School students began the month of May with a special celebration in honor of Mary.
The annual celebration, held May 5, began with a procession led by altar servers, kindergarteners dressed as angels, PreK4 students with the crown, the second graders who had received their first Holy Communion the previous week, and the eighth graders who had received their confirmation earlier in the year. The procession was accompanied by the rest of the student body, from PreK2 through seventh grade.
The choir lent their voices while everyone sang “Immaculate Mary” and eighth graders carried an image of the Blessed Mother from the school to the church, which they would later crown. The Mass was celebrated by St. Kevin's pastor, Father Jesus Saldaña. Afterward, the whole school prayed a decade of the rosary and a litany where they consecrated their lives to her.
