SUNRISE | The Knights of Columbus St. John Neumann Council #5971 of Plantation marked the 50th anniversary of their founding with a Mass celebrated by Father Liam Quinn and Honor Guard procession at All Saints Church in Sunrise.

Father Quinn is pastor of All Saints. The weekend observance focused on the principles of the Knights of Columbus: charity, faith, family and fraternity.

A week before the May 7 Mass, the council had held a food drive at a local Winn Dixie, collecting over 600 pounds of food and cash donations to support the All Saints St. Vincent de Paul food pantry. This event culminated an ongoing effort of food drives, breakfasts and fundraising to assist the St. Vincent de Paul ministry.

At a brunch following the anniversary Mass, members honored the council members and past Grand Knights in attendance, including one who came from Philadelphia to attend the event.
