PARKLAND | Panther Park opened its "gates" earlier this month as the students, faculty, and staff of Mary Help of Christians School gathered with Father Jorge Puerta, parochial vicar, to pray the rosary and bless the new play space.

This versatile, shaded space located behind the school's outdoor café area will be used not only for recess for third, fourth and fifth graders, but also for endless learning opportunities for all grades. An organic play area, it has been mulched, fenced, and outfitted with beautiful wooden benches which convert into tables, so classes can use it for everything from science to writing lessons.

The school is especially grateful for the work of Donna Murphy, Katherine Morando, Rick Causland, Broward Landscaping and the parish's Land Stewardship Committee in preparing this area which will give students many hours of fun and learning for years to come.

Donations are being accepted to help purchase play equipment for Panther Park. Email [email protected] for information.

The design of Panther Park will allow Mary Help of Christians School students to use it for recess as well as everything from science to writing lessons.
