Nativity newsmagazine receives national recognition

The cover of Nativity School's "The Knightly News," June 2016 newsmagazine, depicted the fictional character Atticus Finch from "To Kill A Mockingbird." This cover, as well as the newsmagazine, received various awards this year from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association.

HOLLYWOOD| The  Columbia Scholastic Press Association at Columbia University has awarded Nativity School's newsmagazine, The Knightly News, with several special honors.

The newsmagazine was awarded a Gold Circle Certificate of Merit for "Cover Design of a Feature Newsmagazine" for the June 2016 issue. The cover depicts Atticus Finch, the protagonist of "To Kill a Mockingbird," and was created by former editor Madison Appleton. 

The Knightly News also received its fifth consecutive Gold Medal for all issues produced in 2016, and the All Columbian Honors, the highest award possible, for the Newspaper Essentials section of the paper. 

As Scholastic Press Association judges noted: “TKN is an outstanding publication.  The quality of the storytelling and interviewing produces interesting stories…plus excellent coverage, editorial leadership and journalistic writing combine in an impressive publication. Congratulations on your Gold Medal and All Columbian Honors.”
