Hurricane Irma victims: U.S. bishops call for second collection

Archbishop Thomas Wenski of Miami has thrown his support behind a call from the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops for a second collection after Hurricane Irma. Here is his open letter.

Brothers,

Please find a letter from Cardinal DiNardo, president of the USCCB, requesting a second collection to be taken up for victims of Hurricane Irma.  He asks that collection be held “weekend of September 23-24, or as soon as possible thereafter.”

Irma affected all the State of Florida along with several islands in the Caribbean, including the Virgin Islands and Cuba.

Please keep the proceeds from this collection separate from the collection for Hurricane Harvey.  Thanks for your cooperation.
