MIAMI | St. Michael School got silly May 26 as students and teachers joined a nationwide campaign to benefit children in need around the world.

Red Nose Day is a project of Comic Relief, Inc. which encourages doing something funny to raise awareness for a good cause. And what’s funnier than wearing a red nose all day?

St. Michael students and teachers joined in the fun, as did many others around the country, judging from the pictures on social media.

The day culminated with a two-hour TV special on the NBC network featuring “the biggest stars across comedy, music, TV and film.”

The money raised through the TV special and other local efforts is distributed to “poverty-focused charities working both in the United States and around the world,” according to the Red Nose Day website.
