MIAMI | With great pride and enthusiasm, St.
Kevin School celebrated its annual Hispanic Festival.
The seventh grade students prepared a thorough and informative portfolio covering the wonders of the Hispanic world and its
impact on American society. They prepared PowerPoint presentations encompassing an interdisciplinary array of academic subjects. Through these presentations, they learned about their individual country and the other 19, and shared their information
with each other as well as the rest of the student body.
Culminating all the academic work was an evening
festival for parents and guests, including visitors from the consulates in
Miami. The evening in St. Kevin's beautifully decorated school patio featured representative folkloric dances and a grand finale of the children dancing
their version of Latin rhythms.
Visitors viewed the students’ exhibits while sharing an exquisite taste of delicious typical dishes from Spain
and Latin America.
The next morning, the school celebrated the annual Hispanic Heritage Mass with a parade of flags and students dressed in typical costumes. There were
beautiful bilingual readings and songs, followed by an assembly for the school children.
This multidisciplinary event at St. Kevin created closer bonds among peers,
parents, grandparents and members of our community. It also gave students a deeper appreciation of diverse cultures.
