Local artist exhibits Marian images at basilica

“Mary, Our Heavenly Mother,” an exhibit of more than 20 pieces by Miami Catholic artist Beatriz Ramirez, is currently on display at the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Queen of the Universe, in Orlando. These artworks — images of Mary painted in porcelain — showcase Ramirez’s reverence to Mary in a most beautiful and intimate way. The exhibit opened Mother’s Day, May 10, and will be on view through July 10.

The basilica is located at 8300 Vineland Ave., Orlando, 32821, near the Lake Buena Vista exit off Interstate-4 (exit 68). Admission is free and there is ample parking. Museum hours are weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information call 407-239-6600 or email: [email protected].
