The Office for Religious of the Archdiocese of Miami invites the community to a Holy Hour each month at a different parish in order to mark the Year of Consecrated Life. The goal is to thank God for the gift of consecrated life and plead for more vocations to the religious life.   • Wednesday, Aug. 9, 7 p.m., at St. Boniface Church, Pembroke Pines;
  • Tuesday, Sept. 15, 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Miami;
  • Wednesday, Oct. 14, 7 p.m. at Blessed Trinity Church, Miami Springs;
  • Tuesday, Nov. 17, 7 p.m. at St. Agnes Church, Key Biscayne; and
  • Saturday, Dec. 19, 3 p.m. (Holy Hour only), Our Lady of Charity National Shrine, Miami.

A biography and a statue — both tributes to Miami’s late Auxiliary Bishop Agustín Román — will be unveiled in the weeks leading up to the annual celebration of the feast of Our Lady of Charity, Cuba’s patroness.

The biography of the beloved Cuban bishop will be presented at an event Saturday, Aug. 22 at 4 p.m. at the Freedom Tower in downtown Miami. Those needing transportation can meet at Our Lady of Charity National Shrine at 3 p.m. The cost of the bus is $5.

On Saturday, Sept. 5, at 5 p.m., a statue of Bishop Román will be unveiled at the shrine, which is located at 3609 S. Miami Ave., Miami.

The annual maritime procession with the image of Our Lady of Charity will depart from the shrine at 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, and return by 4 p.m. The day also will mark the start of the novena to Our Lady of Charity which will conclude with the annual Mass on her feast day, Sept. 8, at the Bank United Center on the campus of the University of Miami in Coral Gables.

The image of Our Lady of Charity will leave the shrine at 5 p.m., and the doors of the Bank United Center will open at the same time. Once the image arrives at the center, the rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m., the procession will begin at 7 p.m., and the Mass will start at 8 p.m.
