HOLLYWOOD | Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory has appointed Judith Mucheck, a former superintendent of schools for the Atlanta archdiocese, as the next president of the Marianist-run high school, effective July 1, 2015.
Mucheck will be the first lay president of Chaminade-Madonna since its founding in 1960. All previous presidents were professed brothers or priests of the Society of Mary.
Her three year appointment comes after a national search by the C-M Board of Trustees that began in the spring of 2014.
“I am very proud of the work and dedication of the C-M Board of Trustees and the President’s Search Committee, which has led us to the appointment of Dr. Mucheck as the next president of Chaminade-Madonna. We have secured a talented and visionary leader,” said Julius “Skip” Farinhas, ‘75, chair of Chaminade-Madonna's Board of Trustees.
Her appointment has been confirmed by the Marianist Province of the United States of America and by the Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory Corporation.
“I am grateful to the Marianists for the opportunity to join the C-M family and I’m looking forward to reaching C-M’s great potential which can be realized with the effort of all stakeholders,” Mucheck said.
She brings a wealth of experience in Catholic school education, having served as a high school teacher, university professor, education consultant, principal, and president at several Catholic schools, in addition to her work as superintendent of schools for the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Her career in Catholic education spans over 30 years.
Mucheck is also a proud product of Catholic education. She has been connected to the Marianists over the years in various ways, including as an alumna of the University of Dayton, where she obtained her master’s degree in Educational Leadership. She earned her Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies from Georgia State University. Some of her professional memberships include: the National Catholic Educational Association, Phi Delta Kappa International, The College Board, and The Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
