MIAMI LAKES | On Nov. 19, Our Lady of the Lakes School participated in its first Give Miami Day fundraising campaign, hoping to raise some much needed funds for playground improvements. Thanks to the school community as well as church parishioners, the school raised $15,756 with 174 gifts in less than 24 hours.
“Through the generosity of our school family and parishioners, we will be able to remodel our children’s playground and have a safe environment for them to play at our school,” said Ricardo Briz, Our Lady of the Lakes principal. “Having parents, alumni and parishioners joining together to donate to our 'Little Cheetah’s Playground' is a living example of our school’s mission statement.”
While donations could be received at any time over 24 hours, the school offered some incentive prizes for gifts made at designated times throughout the day. Prizes awarded were as follows:
- Caitlin Robinson made the first donation and won an Italy Today dining certificate.
- Elsa Garcia made the donation closest to 6:41 a.m. and won a Hale’s Health Foods certificate.
- Michelle Morales made the donation closest to 9:45 a.m. and won a 3days/2nights stay at the Doubletree Grand Hotel Biscayne Bay.
- Saby Gomez de Molina made the donation closest to 10:30 a.m. and won a Spa at Shula’s Spa Basket.
