HIALEAH | Immaculate Conception School's WICS news team brought back four district titles from their participation in the 44th annual Florida Scholastic Press Association Journalism Day.
- Eighth-grader Max Ganem won first place for Broadcast Anchor in the Middle School District and would have placed in the High School District.
- Eighth-graders Enrique De La Osa, Alyssa Barcello and Max also won first place for Sports News Package.
- Seventh-graders Sarah Gonzalez and Matthew Del Cristo won second place in Middle School Multimedia.
Journalism Day took place Oct. 17 at Florida International University. Aside from the competition, students had the opportunity to interview Local 10 news anchor Calvin Hughes.
In April, WICS will be attending the Florida Scholastic Press Association's annual convention and competing at the state level. The WICS moderator is Immaculate's art and media teacher, Tania Busto.
