Ecclesial Encounter Cuba 2016

Miami…(June 23, 2016)On Saturday, June 25, Archbishop Thomas Wenski and representatives of the Catholic Church in Cuba will hold a press conference at 1:15 p.m. following the noon Mass at the Our Lady of Charity National Shrine (La Ermita) to close the Ecclesial Encounter Cuba 2016.  

The Ecclesial Encounter is an annual gathering that brings together different representatives of the Church in Cuba and Cubans in the diaspora to share and discuss ecclesial matters and build unity amongst Cubans in light of the Catholic faith.  

Joining Archbishop Wenski at the press conference will be Bishop Arturo Gonzalez, Bishop of the Diocese of Santa Clara, Cuba and Fr. Jose Alvarez V.F., Pastor of Our Lady of the Lakes Church.   

The closing Mass will be at noon followed by the press conference at 1:15 p.m. Media are welcome to come to the Mass for b-roll.  

The encounter was held at different parishes of the Archdiocese of Miami starting June 17 at Our Lady of the Lakes Church in Miami Lakes and concluding at the Our Lady of Charity National Shrine this June 25. During the June 17 and 18 meetings over 40 representatives altogether, composed of clergy and laity participated in the discussion.
