Curley Notre Dame track team members capture district titles

MIAMI | Prior to Easter break, Archbishop Curley Notre Dame Prep's track and field teams concluded productive seasons. The Lady Knights defeated six teams in the final home meet to finish with a 16-4 overall record. The boys' team defeated five teams to finish the regular season at 14-6.

Over the break, both teams competed in the District 16-1A Championship Track Meet. The Lady Knights finished third and the boys fifth out of a 10-team district.

For the girls, sophomore Cassie Poulard captured district titles in the long jump and 100-meter hurdles. Cassie also advanced to the regional championships in the 4x100 relay and the 300 hurdles.

Senior Carmen Pierre and freshmen Tajmara Antoine also advanced to the regional championships in multiple events.

The following Lady Knights will also represent ACND April 24 at a regional competition to be held at Westminster Academy: Sophomore Carmita Lucien, sophomore Weslene Sylvestre, sophomore Jeanetta Joseph, senior Katiana Desarmes, and sophomore Keyla Jean Baptiste.

For the boys, sophomore Enzo Bruno captured a district title in the high jump.  Enzo will also advance to the regional championships in the 110 and the 300 hurdles. Junior Chris Walker will also advance in multiple events.

Also advancing to regional competition are: sophomore Miguel Augustin, sophomore Byran Pierre, freshmen Eudens Antoine and Elvins Desarmes, and senior Beethoven Moise.
