MIAMI GARDENS | For the second time this school year, student athletes from Msgr.Edward Pace High School signed Letters of Intent to attend college.
Four varsity baseball players were among this group of signees. Damian Alba signed with Point Park University in Pittsburgh, brothers Eddie and Elliott Cutillas signed with Rollins College in Winter Park, and Lorenzo Hampton, Jr. signed with the University of California Berkeley.
Pace wrestler Christopher Moreno followed his older brother Ramon Moreno, a class of 2012 Pace alumnus, by signing with Coker College in South Carolina. a younger brother, current Pace wrestler Stephen Moreno, was ranked fourth in his weight class in Florida at the FHSAA State Wrestling Tournament this year.
In total, nine Pace student athletes from the class of 2015 have signed Letters of Intent to attend universities. They are:
- Ricky Rodriguez (baseball) – Olive-Harvey College
- Leroy Garcia (baseball) – Bethune-Cookman University
- CJ Fisher (basketball) – University of North Florida
- Sage Lewis (football) – Florida International University
- Damian Alba (baseball) – Point Park University
- Lorenzo Hampton (baseball) – University of California, Berkeley
- Eddie Cutillas (baseball) – Rollins College
- Elliott Cutillas (baseball) – Rollins College
- Christopher Moreno (wrestling) – Coker College
The most recent signing took place April 15 in front of their fellow students at the Pace Spartan Center. The athletes were accompanied by their families and friends, who treated the student body to cake.
