HOLLYWOOD | Celebrating academic achievement is among Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory’s top priorities, and what greater way of doing so than by hosting a Scholastic Competition?

On April 23, seven local Catholic elementary schools arrived at Chaminade-Madonna’s campus ready to show off their academic prowess. Armed with their cumulative achievements of this scholastic year, sixth and seventh graders participated in written tests, dramatic performances and artistic challenges.

Along with their individual awards, students from Little Flower in Hollywood won third place as a group at the Scholastic Competition hosted by Chaminade-Madonna College Preparatory April 23.

“Recognizing academic achievement demonstrates to these young students that their hard work is important and valued,” said Judith Mucheck, Chaminade-Madonna’s president. “Affirming the work of their teachers lets them know that what they do now will have a direct impact on the success of their students in their next level of education.”

The competitive spirit was alive and well between the students who participated in this year’s event. First, second and third place individual awards were given in the following areas: art, drama, English, French, mathematics, music, science, social studies, Spanish, and theology.

The all-school first-place winner was Nativity School in Hollywood; the second-place winner was St. Gregory School in Plantation; and the third-place winner was Little Flower in Hollywood.
