DAVIE | About 100 young adults spent a prayerful Friday evening at St. David Church at the end of October, taking part in the first Illuminare La Notte event to be held in Broward County.

Illuminare La Notte is a celebration of a distinctly Catholic kind of light: to “light up the darkness by being light to a hurting and yearning world,” in the words of Marta Vargas, archdiocesan coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Ministry.

The multilingual evening begins with Mass, followed by adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, the opportunity for confession and fellowship.

The first Illuminare La Notte took place in June at St. Kieran Church in Miami with almost 200 young adults in attendance. Similar events are being planned for next year.
