Archbishop Wenski and Bishop Baldacchino will celebrate Filipino Advent tradition

Miamiā€¦(Dec. 2, 2014) The Filipino Apostolate of the Archdiocese of Miami will be celebrating Simbang Gabi, a Filipino Advent tradition consisting of a novena of Masses that will take place in nine different churches throughout the Archdiocese of Miami, from Dec. 15-23. Auxiliary Bishop Peter Baldacchino will celebrate the first Mass on Dec. 15 at Annunciation Church, and Archbishop Thomas Wenski will conclude the Novena on Dec. 23 at Our Lady of the Lakes Church. 

The Filipino Apostolate of the Archdiocese of Miami has been sharing Simbang Gabi with the community since 1996. It is a long treasured religious tradition deeply rooted in Filipino culture that spiritually prepares all for the birth of Jesus Christ during the Advent season. This year, the theme is “The Christian Family: Hope of the New Evangelization.”  

The schedule of Novena Masses is: 

  • Monday, Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. at Annunciation Church, located at 3781 SW 39th St., West Park, FL, 33023. 
  • Tuesday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, located at 701 N. Hiatus Rd., Pembroke Pines, FL 33026. 
  • Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Church, located at 14187 SW 72nd St., Miami, FL 33183. 
  • Thursday, Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Edward Church, located at 19000 Pines Blvd., Pembroke Pines, FL 33029. 
  • Friday, Dec. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, located at 415 NE 105th St, Miami, FL 33138. 
  • Saturday, Dec. 20 at 3 p.m. at St. Bernard Church, located at 8279 Sunset Strip, Sunrise, FL 33322. 
  • Sunday, Dec. 21 at 3 p.m. at Holy Rosary - St. Richard Church, located at 7500 SW 152nd St., Palmetto Bay, FL 33157. 
  • Monday, Dec. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Martha Church, located at 9301 Biscayne Blvd., Miami Shores, FL 33138. 
  • Tuesday, Dec. 23 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of the Lakes Church, located at 15801 NW 67th Ave., Miami Lakes, FL 33014.
