Prayer service for persecuted Christians
Archbishop Thomas Wenski will host a solemn prayer service with Eastern Rite Christians on Sunday, April 26, 4 p.m., in St. Mary Cathedral, to pray for Christian communities throughout the Middle East who are suffering persecution for their faith. The cathedral is located at 7525 N.W. Second Ave., Miami. For more information, call 305-759-4531. 

Red Masses for legal professionals
The St. Thomas More Society of South Florida will hold its annual Red Mass, reception and dinner on Thursday, April 23, at 5:30 p.m. at St. Anthony Church, 901 N.E. Second St., Fort Lauderdale. Guest speaker at the dinner will be Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA. All are welcome to attend the Mass. Tickets for the dinner, which will be held at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort, are $125 per person. For more information, call 954-565-2550.

The Miami Catholic Lawyers Guild will hold its annual Red Mass on Wednesday, April 29 at noon at Gesu Church, 118 N.E. Second St., Miami. Sponsorships are welcome. For more information, call 305-446-4000.

Archbishop Thomas Wenski will be the main celebrant at both Masses. 

Scouts Awards Mass
Archdiocesan Scouts will receive their religious badges and awards at a Mass to be celebrated by Archbishop Thomas Wenski Saturday, May 23, at 5:30 p.m. at St. Mary Cathedral, 7525 N.W. Second Ave., Miami. All are invited. For information call Deacon Emilio Blanco at 305-804-4537. 

Summer Institute for catechists
The Office of Catechesis announces its 2015 Summer Institute, which will take place the weeks of June 15-19 and June 26-July 2 in several locations in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. These intensive week-long courses allow catechists and Catholic educators to quickly work towards Archdiocesan Catechist Certification. Courses will be offered in both English and Spanish.

The courses that begin June 15 will be offered at: Archbishop Coleman Carroll High SchoolMother of Our Redeemer SchoolSt. Brendan High School and Our Lady of Lourdes Academy, all in Miami; and Archbishop Edward McCarthy High School in Southwest Ranches.

The courses that begin June 26 will be offered at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale.

Estate, financial planning workshops
The Archdiocese of Miami Development Corporation, through its Office of Planned Giving, is offering free estate and financial planning workshops, created by its Planned Giving Advisory Council, throughout the archdiocese. Topics include Estate Planning 101, How to Budget/Financial Literacy, End of Life Planning (offered with Catholic Cemeteries) and How to Leave a Legacy for Your Loved Ones, among many other topics.

World Youth Day pilgrimage
Group registration for the archdiocese’s pilgrimage to World Youth Day, set for July 2016 in Poland, has ended. The archdiocesan Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry is now forming groups for youths and young adults whose parish or school is not attending as a group.
