60th anniversary picnic Oct. 28

Archbishop Thomas Wenski is inviting South Florida’s Catholics to join him in celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Archdiocese of Miami at a picnic Sunday, Oct. 28, beginning with 11:30 a.m. Mass at Nativity Church, 5220 Johnson St., Hollywood. The picnic, with face painting, rock climbing and field games for the kids, as well as a battle of local worship bands, will follow on the parish grounds, from 12:30 to 5 p.m.

 

Get ‘Formed’ in the faith

The Archdiocese of Miami has entered a partnership with partnership with the Augustine Institute to offer a discounted subscription to formed.org, which contains a wide variety of faithful and inspiring Catholic content including sacramental preparation, Bible studies, children’s and youth programs, e-books, movies, and an increasing library of Spanish-language content. Formed training in both English and Spanish will be offered Oct. 24 and 25 for parish staff and key volunteer leaders to learn how Formed can be used as a resource in different parish ministries. At least two parish representatives are asked to attend one of these training events, but more are welcome. Catholic Young Professionals now in Broward

The Catholic Young Professionals series is now taking place in Broward as well as Miami-Dade County. The next meeting will take place Monday, Oct. 29, at 7:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 3999 N. Dixie Highway, Fort Lauderdale. This is a great way to network with other young professionals and be inspired by experts in various professions on how to excel in both work and faith life. All Souls Day Masses at Catholic Cemeteries

On the feast of All Souls, Friday, Nov. 2, Masses will be celebrated for all the faithful departed at both of the archdiocesan cemeteries. Auxiliary Bishop Peter Baldacchino will celebrate the All Souls Day Mass at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery at 10 a.m. The cemetery is located at 1500 South State Road 7, North Lauderdale. Auxiliary Bishop Enrique Delgado will celebrate the All Souls Day Mass for Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, also at 10 a.m. Our Lady of Guadalupe Church is located next door to Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, at 11691 N.W. 25 St., Doral. All are welcome to attend.

Family concert with Steve Angrisano

All families are invited to join Catholic musician Steve Angrisano for a concert Friday, Nov. 16, at 7:30 p.m., at St. Andrew Church, 9950 N.W. 29 St., Coral Springs. Angrisano also will lead a morning of reflection for high school students Saturday, Nov. 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Both events will focus on healing, prayer and hope through music and storytelling, and are part of the parish’s response to the Stoneman Douglas High School tragedy. Pilgrimage to March for Life

The archdiocesan Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry is organizing its annual pilgrimage to the March for Life in Washington, D.C. The pilgrimage will take place from Thursday, Jan. 17 to Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019. In addition to taking part in the march, participants will celebrate a private Mass for the group at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, visit the National Holocaust Museum, and have the option to tour Washington monuments at night. Daily breakfast and one group dinner are included. Cost is $475 for quad occupancy or $580 for double occupancy. An initial deposit of $175 by Oct. 31 holds a spot. Final payment is due Dec. 1.
