MIAMI SPRINGS | Students in PK4, kindergarten, first and second grade at Blessed Trinity School got a special treat April 10 when alumnus and children's book author Jake Perez, '88, visited. During his visit, Perez read his newly published book, "Sweet Coco" to the students, answered questions and signed autographs.

"The children truly enjoyed it and so did Jake," said Maria Teresa Perez, school principal. "We are honored that he remembered his alma matter and stopped by to share his story with our students."

The book takes the reader on an adventure with a charming little girl named Coco as she goes on a magical journey to discover how chocolate is made. Guided by the gentle, loving hand of her favorite chocolate-maker, Coco learns the sweet secrets to confection perfection.

Creating Sweet Coco's world truly was a labor of love. Perez wrote it while his sisters were expecting their own little girls. The book is as much a tribute to his sisters as it is a love letter to his nieces. It is, at its core, a celebration of parenthood, and a reminder to share what you love to do with those you hold most dear.
