Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School

Welcomes Second Principal in its 12-year History

Miami…The Archdiocese of Miami has announced the appointment of Richard P. Jean as Archbishop Edward A. McCarthy High School’s second principal in its 12-year history.

Mr. Jean, an alumnus of the Cathedral School of St. Mary and Archbishop Curley-Notre Dame in Miami, has served as Dean of Students at Archbishop Curley-Notre Dame and Archbishop Coleman Carroll high schools.

He was appointed principals of St. Francis Xavier in 2003 and as principal at St. Timothy School from 2004 to 2010. Mr. Jean attended Duquesne University as a Division I basketball player; he received his Bachelor of Science and his Master of Science Degrees from Barry University. He is continuing his studies at Florida International University.

While serving at Archbishop Curley, Mr. Jean coached cross-country and basketball; when at Archbishop Carroll he coached the basketball team which played in the state finals for its division.

Richard Jean holds a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Sports Management and a minor in Business and a Master of Science degree with a major in Educational Leadership.

The new school year, Archbishop McCarthy’s thirteenth, begins on Monday, August 23rd and Mr. Jean will welcome the 1403 students back to school.

Mr. Jean resides in Miami with his wife and three children.
