FORT LAUDERDALE - The artistic works of seven Cardinal Gibbons High School students are on display through June 6 at Boca Raton Museum of Art, as part of the exhibition An Artistic Discovery: The Congressional Student Art Competition.

The exhibition represents student artwork submitted for the 22nd Congressional District of Florida for the annual, nationwide high school arts competition sponsored by the members of the U.S. House of Representatives. The competition took place on May 8 at the Boca Raton Museum of Art.

Students Max Freeman and Mateo Nava, Sarah Bogdan, Francesca Champin, Susan Curry, Jalin Rinderman, Emma Trodella, and Melissa Usher submitted works for the competition. Max and Mateo also competed in the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Art/Nova Southeastern University Merit Scholarship Competition. Emma also showed at Nova as part of Debbie Wasserman Schulz's Congressional Art Competition.

All high school students residing in the 22nd Congressional District of Florida had the opportunity to submit artwork to the office of Representative Ron Klein to be exhibited at the museum and juried. The artistic discovery competition provides an opportunity to recognize and encourage the artistic talent in the nation, as well as in each Congressional district.

“I am very proud of these students who submitted their artwork for this prestigious competition," said Bonnie F. Busby, Gibbons art instructor. "At Cardinal Gibbons, we encourage all of our students to go above and beyond their required curriculum to strive for excellence.”
